Sign of the TImes

What makes people feel that they can take what belongs to someone else just because they feel that got a bad deal in life. I am beginning to not feel sorry for people who are locked up for years upon years. When you see what people do to one another, you realize that this world is coming to an end real soon and that we cannot expect anything better. I know that individual changes will always take place, but as a society, we need sweeping changes. Sometimes I wonder why we have an earth, but I realized that when we create things, we have to take into account that everything may not go according to plan. Even if we are the one in charge, we still have to learn and change as we go along. A lot of times when things happen, people wonder where God is or if God is so loving why would he allow certain things to happen? Well, I say to these people, get a life because you could care less about God. THe only time people even want God is if they want something..But when everything is going ok for them, God is not even in the picture. THe reason things happen is because of choice. When people choice to do something, it takes God out of picture and puts them in control. Choice is a gift from God. But we must be careful about what we choose to do and be willing to pay the price for it. Anyhoo, keep your chin up no matter what is going on because you are here for a reason and even if someone takes something that is not theirs, thank God because it could have been worse. Keep a smile going on. Surabi

technology has it's problems too

As with all things, technology has it's problems. I got a virus on my computer that basically took over the whole computer and made me so angry. Needless to say, I ended up calling Hewlett Packard/Compaq to find out what to do, only to learn that I had to get a warranty for $114.00 to even ask them what to do. It is for one year, so that is cool. But after asking the questions and the technician not being able to help me, they told me to sign up for their program, tune-up. That costs $59.00. Then they directed me to do a system recovery. I did it and lost all of my material that I needed including my Microsoft program for word. I did not renew my contract when it expired from my 60 day free offer. Anyhoo, I had to do at least two system recoveries and then add back on all of the programs like my printer, the external disk holder and other necessities. It amazed me that we have to spend so much money on virus blockers, spam blockers, etc. only to have an advanced hacker break through anyway and do what they want. Well, I say that everything has it's problems. COmputers may be great, but they come with a whole set of problems that costs more than we could have imagined. Well, I guess there is a price to pay for everything, so why not get what you want. Talk to you next time. SMOOCHES. Surabi

NEW THINGS

I was watching a show yesterday or should I say early this morning called My Sweet 16 on MTV. It is about kids who celebrate their 16th birthday with a big bash. Needless to say, I was amazed at how our young people are more concerned with who has the most or the best as opposed to their plans for the future. I am not knocking having a good time and going into your new found age with a good time, but one of the shows focused on two friends who went to the same school and had their 16th birthdays coming up right behind each other. The first girl made it a necessity to outdo the other girl by having a grand party and an even grander gift from her parents. She got a Lexus for her 16th B-Day. Well when the other friend did her birthday party her parents go Fat Joe and DJ Khaled to do the music for her party. Plus she got a Mercedes from her parents. You should have seen the face on the first girl. If looks could kill everyone would have been dead including me and my daughter who were looking at it after the fact.

Another point is that I was talking to my friend and she was saying how some of the young people she knew wanted to go to school, but forgo the traditional schools like FIU or Miami Dade or even UM. They wanted to go to the Technical schools which promise a faster way to get the degree you want. She tried to explain to them that it would be best to go the traditional route as the other schools are mainly private and costs a lot of money. This means that the schooling will be covered by loans. And if you can get a degree in 6 months, that usually takes two years then I need to sell you the fountain of youth because you are being bamboozled. Something is not right. The point I am trying to make is that it appears to her and myself that the kids just want to show off and let everyone see how fast they got what they wanted. This world is really changing because the focus is not on building up character and hard-work, but get rich quick schemes and show and tell.

And to not get off the subject completely, have you noticed those makeover shows like on Maury Povich. Have you noticed that they only focus on the outside and very rarely say what is going on in their minds or their life. It is a case of Show and Sell. Show myself and what I have in the physical to sell you something that will not give you a good understanding of who I am and what I have to offer. Anyhoo, I was just wondering what your feelings are on the SHow and Sell and off of the building of a great character? Surabi
